Dipendra Manocha

Dipendra Manocha learnt to value play early-on in life. Visually-impaired since childhood, he saw navigating the bustling roads of Delhi traffic with no sight and his white-cane as an adventure game that he got to play everyday. It’s this playfulness that has today allowed him to travel alone to over 35 countries, connecting with people worldwide in his role as Director, Developing Countries, Daisy Consortium. He played Chess in University-tournaments and never hesitated in participating in adventure-activities, be it crossing deep mountainsides using zip-lines or going 40-feet underwater sea diving. Interestingly, growing up at a time when assistive-technology and inclusive games were almost non-existent, he embraced innovation and problem solving during his fun-time and invented his own accessible games for his neighbourhood friends.

His organisation, Saksham, continues this legacy today and provides inclusive-games and innovative-activities for persons with visual impairment from car rallies to audio-description of movies and much more. LinkedIn»
