Computational Thinking for children

Many articles have been written about why CT is a skill as essential to children as the three R's of reading writing and arithmetic. Wang's CACM article is the key that triggered a widespread discussion, adoption, and evolution of CT as part of the early school curriculum.  Recognizing the primacy that computing technologies have come to occupy in the global economy, every country around the world is focusing efforts on introducing and enhancing CT skills for children from early school years. Some like the UK, have already made it part of the standard school curriculum across the country.

A few links to CT in different countries and experiences

In India, the National  Education Policy 2020 has recommended that computational thinking be introduced from primary education onwards. However, the lead on the ground has been taken by ACM India, with a team of dedicated volunteers from industry and academia, by creating cspathshala.org. On this website is a model curriculum from grade 1 to 8, breakdown of this curriculum into modules, with teacher resources as well as evaluation guidelines.  Many schools in several states have introduced this curriculum and the website is a meeting place for the community of teachers and educators working in this area, sharing experiences and best practices.
